For Canadian mortgage brokers

Stop chasing documents.

Send each applicant one link. They send every document from their phone. Startly organises and checks each one, cites every figure to its page, and hands you a lender‑ready package.

How it works

One link out.
A lender‑ready package back.

Startly sits between your point-of-sale and the lender. The application stays where it is; the documents and the figures come to you checked.

  1. Step 1

    Send one link

Open an application, pick the deal type and how the main applicant earns, and add each applicant’s email. Each gets their own link, with your brokerage’s name on it.

  2. Step 2

They send it from their phone

A six-digit code from their email, then a checklist that names every document. By default, reminders go out on days 2, 5 and 9, and they stop when everything is in.

  3. Step 3

    Startly organises and checks it

Every upload is filed under its item. Startly reads the figures that matter, cites each to its page, and raises a Finding when documents don’t agree.

  4. Step 4

    You hand off the package

One download: accepted documents named and numbered by applicant, the analysis report, a spreadsheet of the figures and your submission notes.

Every figure points to its page.

Box 14 of a T4, line 13500 of a T1, a deposit on page 2 of a statement. Open a citation and the page opens with the figure marked. Correct any figure with a reason, and the correction is recorded.

Startly’s analysis advises. You decide.

Who it’s for

Built for the files that take longest.

Independent agents and small brokerages with complex applications. Each applicant gets the checklist for how they earn, and the co-applicant and guarantor get their own.

Trust and privacy

Built to hold tax returns.

Your applicants trust you with their most private papers. These are the rules Startly runs on.

  • Encrypted, one key per applicant

Documents and applicant data are held on Cloudflare, outside Canada. Each applicant’s personal data is encrypted under its own key, and erasing it means destroying that key.

  • Staff access is recorded

Startly staff see counts, not contents. To help your brokerage they open a Support access that lasts 24 hours, your owners can see it, and every document opened is recorded.

  • Built on PIPEDA’s principles

We collect what a mortgage file needs and never sell it. After an application closes it is kept for the window you choose, 12 months by default, then deleted.

  • Never sent as an attachment

Texts and emails carry a link or a code, never a document or a figure. Applicants upload on their own page; a reply to our email with a file attached is filed for your team to review.

Sign-in (Clerk), text and email delivery (Bird) and document reading (AI models hosted on Cloudflare) are processors named in our privacy policy, with where each one runs.

Questions

Questions brokers ask.

Anything else: hello@startly.io

Is Startly PIPEDA compliant?

Startly is built on PIPEDA’s principles, and we never sell what you collect. A closed application is kept for 12 months by default, then deleted. Where data is stored is under Trust and privacy; the privacy policy has the rest.

Do my clients need an account?

No. Each applicant opens their own link from your email or text and enters a six-digit code we email them. There is no password to forget and nothing to install.

Does Startly replace Finmo, Velocity or my point-of-sale?

No. Startly sits beside your point-of-sale and handles the documents: asking for them, checking them and reading the figures. When the file is ready you download one Package and submit it the way you do today.

How do the text messages work?

If your applicant agrees to texts, their link and their reminders also go out by text, sent through Bird, our messaging provider. A text carries only a link, never a document or a figure. Reminders stop by themselves when everything is in.

Which lenders does it work with?

Any lender. Startly collects and checks the documents; you choose where the file goes. The built-in checklists follow what Canadian lenders commonly ask for, and your brokerage can hide, reword or add items.
